Rogue Combat guide

How to play Combat in WoW: Forever: what to press, which stats to chase, the talent build level by level, and the gear and dungeons to aim for.

Overzicht

Combat is the rogue's steady melee spec. You build combo points with Sinister Strike and spend them on Eviscerate, with extra dodge and parry to keep you alive. Blade Flurry at 30 lets you hit two mobs at once, which makes leveling much smoother.

Good at

  • Simple, steady damage
  • Hard to kill thanks to dodge, parry and Evasion
  • Blade Flurry for two targets
  • Smooth energy regen in Forever

Watch out for

  • Little control over big packs
  • Needs good weapons
  • Downtime to eat after fights

How to play it

In order of priority for levels 20 to 30, on one target:

  1. Sinister StrikeYour combo point builder. Improved Sinister Strike makes it cheaper.
  2. Slice and DiceUse it on longer fights and bosses. Skip it on mobs that die fast.
  3. EviscerateSpend 3 or more combo points, or fewer if the mob is about to die.
  4. Blade FlurryUse it when two mobs are on you at level 30.
  5. KickInterrupt casters and healers.

Several targets

  1. Blade FlurryYour only real cleave. Pair it with Evasion if you pulled too much.

Stat-prioriteit

  1. Hit
  2. Crit
  3. Agility
  4. Attack power
  5. Wapen-DPS
  6. Weapon skill
  7. Strength

This is the order ONN ranks gear by for Combat. Your weapon matters more than anything for melee.

Tips

  • Combo points stay on the target when you switch targets in Forever, so you can Kick another mob without losing them.
  • Put the faster weapon in your off-hand. Dual Wield Specialization makes it hit harder.
  • Rogues can use one-handed axes in Forever, so don't skip axe drops.
  • Endurance cuts the cooldown on Sprint and Evasion a lot, so use them often.
  • Poisons have charges now and can be used with sharpening stones at the same time.
