Hunter Marksmanship & Beast Mastery guide
How to play Marksmanship & Beast Mastery in WoW: Forever: what to press, which stats to chase, the talent build level by level, and the gear and dungeons to aim for.
Overzicht
This hunter build goes into Marksmanship for crit and hard-hitting shots, while keeping your pet out as a tank. Every hunter learns Aimed Shot at level 20 in Forever, so you don't need talents to get it. Humans can be hunters now too.
Good at
- Pet tanks for you while leveling
- Strong at range with little downtime
- Traps work in combat now
- Easy to solo elites
Watch out for
- Weak if mobs reach you in melee
- Pet needs care in dungeons
- Mana runs low on long fights
How to play it
In order of priority for levels 20 to 30, on one target:
- Hunter's MarkMark the target before you pull. It raises your and your pet's damage.
- Serpent StingUse it on mobs that will live long enough for it to tick.
- Aimed ShotYour biggest shot from level 20. It shares a cooldown with Multi-Shot.
- Arcane ShotInstant shot while moving or between Aimed Shots. Improved Arcane Shot lowers its cooldown.
- Rapid FireBurst for elites and bosses. Rapid Killing makes its cooldown much shorter.
- Auto ShotKeep it going all fight. Most of your damage comes from it.

- Multi-ShotHit a pack. It shares a cooldown with Aimed Shot, so pick one.

Where most of your best gear drops, best first.
- Gnomeregan levels 29 to 381 best-in-slot item: Glass Shooter
- The Deadmines levels 17 to 26
- The Stockade levels 24 to 32
- Razorfen Kraul levels 29 to 38
Tips
- Send your pet in and let it get a few hits before you shoot, so mobs stay on it.
- Pets scale from your gear in Forever, so upgrading yourself also makes your pet stronger.
- Careful Aim turns Intellect into Attack Power, so mail or leather with Intellect is not a waste.
- Freezing Trap from level 20 is great crowd control in dungeons, and traps can be set in combat now.
- Feign Death at 30 is your way out when a pull goes wrong.
Macros
Make a macro with /macro in game, paste the text, and drag it to your bar.
Sends your pet in and fires Arcane Shot.

Calls your pet if it is not out, otherwise heals it.
#showtooltip /cast [nopet] Call Pet; Mend Pet
