Blackfathom Deeps

Getting there

1. Go to the Zoram Strand, the beach on the far west coast of Ashenvale.
2. HordeThe Horde camp Zoram'gar Outpost is right on the strand. Get the flight point there.
3. AllianceAlliance can fly to Astranaar and ride west, or come south down the coast from Auberdine in Darkshore.
4. Head into the sunken ruins at the north end of the beach. The way in is a flooded shaft: swim down and through the underwater tunnel to the portal.

Grab these quests first

From Classic Era; quest givers may differ in WoW: Forever.

1. AllianceKnowledge in the Deeps: Gerrig Bonegrip, Ironforge (Forlorn Cavern). Find the Lorgalis Manuscript at the bottom of a pool inside.
2. AllianceResearching the Corruption: Gershala Nightwhisper, Auberdine. Collect brain stems from the naga and satyrs.
3. AllianceIn Search of Thaelrid: Dawnwatcher Shaedlass, Darnassus. Find Argent Guard Thaelrid deep in the dungeon.
4. HordeThe Essence of Aku'Mai: Je'neu Sancrea, Zoram'gar Outpost. Collect Sapphires of Aku'Mai from the crystals in the first tunnels.
5. HordeAmongst the Ruins: Je'neu Sancrea again. Bring back the Fathom Core from the pool in the Moonshrine Ruins.
6. HordeAllegiance to the Old Gods: starts from a Damp Note that drops inside. Kill Lorgus Jett.
7. Blackfathom Villainy: Argent Guard Thaelrid, inside. Bring back the head of Twilight Lord Kelris. (Both factions.)
8. Warlocks: The Orb of Soran'ruk also needs shards from here (see Shadowfang Keep).

The run, boss by boss

1. Ghamoo-ra: the giant turtle in the first big pool. Slow and tanky, just burn him down. Drops Ghamoo-ra's Bind.
2. Lady Sarevess: a naga in a side cavern off the pool. She slows and shoots. Drops Naga Heartpiercer, Darkwater Talwar and Deadly Serpentine Grips.
3. Gelihast: the murloc lord at his shrine, with lots of murlocs around. Clear them first.
4. Lorgus Jett: a Twilight's Hammer leader who walks the tunnels with guards. He may not be where you expect.
5. Baron Aquanis: HordeHorde only. Use the Fathom Stone in the pool to summon him for the Fathom Core quest.
6. Old Serra'kis: the shark in the flooded room. You fight him underwater, so watch your breath bar. Drops Bite of Serra'kis, Bands of Serra'kis and Glowing Thresher Cape.
7. Twilight Lord Kelris: on the altar in the Moonshrine Sanctum. He puts players to sleep and casts mind blast. Drops Rod of the Sleepwalker and Gaze Dreamer Pants.
8. After Kelris, light the four braziers on the altar to open the big door. Each one calls a wave of monsters, so wait until the group is ready before lighting the next.
9. Aku'mai: the three-headed hydra behind the door. She breathes poison clouds and frenzies near the end. Move out of the clouds and save your cooldowns for the last 25%.

After the run

1. HordeHand in at Zoram'gar Outpost, then take Kelris's head to Bashana Runetotem in Thunder Bluff.
2. AllianceHand in at Auberdine and Ironforge, and take Kelris's head back to Darnassus.

Tips

• Lots of swimming here. Players who can breathe underwater (warlocks, shamans, Undead) make the Serra'kis room easier.
• Icy Veins expects Blizzard to have updated bosses and loot in familiar dungeons like this one. Nothing specific is confirmed yet, so treat boss notes as Classic Era.
