Making gold early

Spend less first

1. Train every two levels, but you can skip new ranks of spells you never use.
2. Don't buy gear from vendors or the Auction House while leveling. Quest rewards replace it quickly.
3. Repairs are cheap if you don't die. Pull carefully and eat between fights.
4. Mages make free food and water. Ask one in your group instead of buying it.

Loot everything, sell the right things

1. Sell grey items to any vendor. Early on, this is most of your money.
2. Keep cloth (Linen Cloth, Wool Cloth): tailors and First Aid levelers buy it on the Auction House.
3. Sell green Bind on Equip items on the Auction House, not to a vendor.
4. New in Forever: selling a Bind on Equip item to a vendor soulbinds it if you haven't collected its appearance. Collect it or auction it.

Gathering professions

The safest money while leveling. Forever beta changes (Oct 1): monsters can only be skinned once, and there are fewer copper veins in starting areas.

1. Skinning: sell Light Leather and Medium Leather. Leatherworkers always need it.
2. Herbalism: Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot and Briarthorn sell to alchemists and other levelers.
3. Mining: Copper Ore and Tin Ore sell well to blacksmiths and engineers. See Mining 1 to 300 and Herbalism 1 to 300.
4. Two gathering skills (for example Herbalism + Skinning) make the most gold. Crafting skills cost gold until later.

Using the Auction House well

1. Auction Houses are in the capital cities. Check current prices before you post, and post a little under the cheapest one.
2. Sell in stacks of 5 to 20. Many buyers want part of a stack.
3. Busy hours (evenings and weekends) sell faster.
4. You can only trade with players on your own ruleset, so prices can differ between Normal, PvP and Roleplaying.

Other easy gold

1. Quests give more gold at higher levels. Hand them in, even the small ones.
2. Fishing and Cooking turn into food other players buy. See Cooking 1 to 300 and Fishing 1 to 300.
3. Fill requests on the ONN Supply board: guild members post what they need.
4. Enchanters: wands you make now sell to vendors for only 1 copper in Forever, so don't level Enchanting for vendor gold.

Stay within the rules

1. Never buy gold from websites. It breaks Blizzard's rules and can get your account closed.
2. No bots or programs that play for you.
3. Don't share your account to have someone else farm or level it.

• Start saving early: your first mount is the big purchase. See Your first mount.
• Bags are the best thing to spend on early. Ask a guild tailor first.
