Wailing Caverns

Getting there

1. Go to Lushwater Oasis in The Barrens, west-southwest of the Crossroads.
2. Look for the giant skull-shaped cave mouth in the cliff above the oasis. Go in and follow the tunnel down to the portal.
3. AllianceAlliance can fly to Ratchet or walk in from Ashenvale (the road south from Astranaar).

Grab these quests first

Mostly Horde. Several start right outside the instance.

1. Deviate Hides: Nalpak, in a small cave above the entrance (go up the hill to the left). Collect hides from Deviate animals inside. (Both factions.)
2. Smart Drinks: Mebok Mizzyrix, Ratchet. Collect Wailing Essence from ectoplasm in the caves. (Both factions.)
3. Trouble at the Docks: Crane Operator Bigglefuzz, Ratchet. Kill Mad Magglish inside the dungeon. (Both factions.)
4. HordeSerpentbloom: Apothecary Zamah, Thunder Bluff (Spirit Rise). Pick Serpentbloom plants inside.
5. HordeLeaders of the Fang: Nara Wildmane, Thunder Bluff (Elder Rise). Bring back the gems of the four Fanglords.

The run, boss by boss

1. Mad Magglish: a goblin hiding in stealth in the caves. He's easy to walk past, so look around the edges.
2. Lady Anacondra: druid of the Fang on the ledge near the start. She casts Sleep and heals: interrupt her heals.
3. Kresh: the turtle in the water. Optional, slow and easy.
4. Lord Pythas: up the ramps. He heals and casts lightning: interrupt.
5. Skum: the big thunder lizard in the flooded area. Hits hard, tank and spank.
6. Lord Cobrahn: on the upper level. At low health he turns into a snake and his poison hurts.
7. Lord Serpentis: at the top, past Cobrahn. Heals and casts lightning.
8. Verdan the Everliving: the big plant at the bottom of the waterfall pool. He knocks people down: fight him away from the edges.
9. Once all four Fanglords (Anacondra, Pythas, Cobrahn, Serpentis) are dead, go back to the Disciple of Naralex at the entrance and talk to him.
10. Escort the Disciple to Naralex. Protect him while he does his ritual: waves of deviate monsters attack.
11. Mutanus the Devourer: appears at the end of the ritual. Kill him to wake Naralex.
12. Deviate Faerie Dragon (rare, not always up): flies in the Pit area.

After the run

1. Hand in Deviate Hides to Nalpak outside, then go to Ratchet and Thunder Bluff for the rest.

Tips

• Wailing Caverns is a maze: ask someone who knows it to lead, or follow the water downhill to Verdan.
• The Druids of the Fang cast Sleep. Interrupt them or bring a priest/paladin to help.
• The Fanglords drop pieces of the Embrace of the Viper leather set, good for druids.
