Earlier today we ran a shoutout for Tard Rangler, who dropped 90 gold into one of our guild banks. We've pulled it. That "donation" wasn't what it looked like.

Here's what happened. Tard Rangler joined one of our sub guilds as a level 1 character and made two deposits into the guild bank: 40 gold, then 50 gold, about an hour apart. That's far more gold than a fresh level 1 character should have. Then he left the guild. Soon after, one of our guild masters was banned.

A brand-new character suddenly holding and moving large amounts of gold is exactly the kind of thing that gets accounts flagged. When that gold lands in a guild bank, the people who run the bank can get caught up in it, even though they did nothing wrong.

Watch out for bad actors like him. Here's how to protect yourself and your guild:

- Be suspicious of big gold from low-level or brand-new characters. Real level 1s don't have 90 gold to give away.
- Guild masters and officers: don't withdraw, move or spend unexplained large deposits. Leave them alone and tell your officers.
- Keep new recruits off the guild bank until they've been around a while. Use your guild's rank permissions to control who can deposit and withdraw.
- If a stranger mails you gold out of nowhere, don't spend it. Report it through in-game support.
- Report suspicious deposits to your guild's officers or Olympus HR so other guilds can be warned.

If you see Tard Rangler, or anyone pulling the same move, don't take the gold. Tell your officers.

The guild tax still stands: send your gold to Asmongold Asmongler or Pyralis Ashandar, or deposit it in your guild's bank from your own main. Just make sure it's gold you earned.
